My mother did not call me once during treatment. After treatment she never once asked me how I was doing. I don’t have a relationship with her now and I feel guilty for that, but then I remember she was not there for me during the worse time of my life .

I was triple positive breast cancer. During chemo everyone was supportive. After chemo and surgery and I was Ned Support left. I still had 21 rounds of radiation and 11 rounds of targeted therapy. Injections every 3 weeks echos every 3 weeks. And everyone dropped off.

I know how people can be. it's hard. 3 of mine disengaged with me so far. Tbh.... it makes my life a little freerer to focus on who and what really matters now.

It blew my mind when my MIL (we are close) would say, “I just don’t know what to do to help you.” I told her a few small things that would help. One time she brought us pizza.

My MIL checks in as "How's your cancer scare going?" like what? I have cancer it's not a scare or possibility it IS cancer!

When I realized they don’t really understand what I’m going it was easier to accept for me. Unless you’ve been through it you don’t really understand.

My therapist warned me of this and I still wasn’t prepared when it actually happened. Hurt terribly.

I feel this with my whole chest. My mother a retired nurse and my sister made me homeless bc I was doing “out of character” things and they were fearful of me 🤷♀️my mother never came to the hospital to see me while I was waiting for brain surgery, never came to see me post surgery or when I went to acute care. My sister only showed up minimally because she felt bad for her actions. I was just a pitty party for her. She took me to my radiation and when those appointments ended we struggled moving forward. I can’t seem to forgive either of them. To date we don’t speak and right now as I’m trying to figure survivorship out and who I am now. I’d rather work on myself alone than have anyone’s pitty and hurt.
