I grew up poor but am a self made millionaire but old habits die hard. I still buy used things instead of new ones. I shop Facebook marketplace all the time. Nothing feels as good as snagging a good deal. I have nice Suits from Goodwill. I mean quality, brand name 6, 7 hundred dollar sports jackets for $30. I did without a lot of things in my life. I am not going to be reckless now.

I've asked myself this. I don't own a home or a car but I do spend on silly things, and I asked myself why am I so comfortable being broke by the end of each month? Some of the realizations I had were because I have a hard time saying "no" to people so when I can't afford to do something, I can happily say no. The second thing I realized is bc I'm a very creative person, I feel comfortable/ enjoy finding ways to be creative, so unfortunately when I am on my last $10 for the week, I am forced to be creative with my groceries/ food. It's like a high.

I have never bought a new mattress. Never in my life. And I always find the $1000 value mattress for like $150 used🤣 I live in a wealthy neighborhood so people be selling things of good quality

The most expensive commodity in this world is time, not money. I’ve realized I’ve wasted a lot of time worrying instead of living life to the fullest. So at the age of 36, I want to step outside my comfort zone and see the other side of the world. Save a little, but also enjoy the present.

You're asleep almost a third of your life. I think a good mattress and pillow is an investment worth my money. I am considered rich by my country's standards and live way within my means. I guess a second hand mattress is a little too extreme for me 😁

You absolutely right I don’t know about eating the cheap food because it will cause you to have bad health will end up costing you more money but you definitely don’t need expensive clothes. You don’t need expensive furniture. You don’t need expensive trinkets you should drive cars until they’re dead just in between those things you’ll save a ton of money.

It took me almost a year to save up 5k. I had to cut out a lot in my life to save this amount. But I wanted brand new furniture. I found a budget friendly place that I was able to buy two twin beds and a couch set with a recliner all for 3k. It’s not high end but I love it. I avoid layaway whenever I can.
