I'd like to add that portraits of royals should be taken with a grain of salt ! It's entirely possible that she had down syndrome but artists didn't paint her disability, both because of ableism and to stay court's painter. Royals' portraits were commissioned after all I love your content a lot, I'm always happy to see you on my feed 🥰

Someone who had sever scoliosis here, Claude could have had a limp due to the severity of her spinal curve especially if it was in her lower back, my lower back curve was 80-90 degrees and I still walk with a limp despite my spinal fusion

as someone who had severe scoliosis (and surgery to correct it) she probably walked with a limp due to her scoliosis. it often changes your gate and causes walking to be more difficult. if she had it bad enough to have a noticeable hunch, then it likely caused mobility issues.

I felt so sorry for Claude and her mother Anne of Brittany her mother died of exhaustion of pregnancies as well and didn’t even get her final wish which is to make her daughter Renee the duchess and claude died of exhaustion of pregnancies as well it is so horrifying how those men didn’t let these poor women to rest

I think she might have had a connective tissue disorder. scoliosis (or some type of spondylitis) and strabismus often go along with lupus.
