for me, the problem is the gender swap for michael removes his struggle, which is that with John dead he inherited the title and estates and essentially everything john had. thats the tension on his side as to why him and fran cant be together. Michaela cannot have that storyline, so what is the tension

Julia Quinn defended this decision by saying she’d been assured the love between John and Fran would be seen like in the book. I wonder if she’s annoyed with how they are portraying it because it’s being made clear that Fran is not attracted to men at all.

Michael fell in love with Francesca at first sight and Francesca came to be in love with him years after John passed away. Michael hated himself for being in love with her which is why he traveled so much, to keep his distance. I hate how they make Francesca look sus in the show, having eyes for someone else while with John.

John dies TWENTY pages into her book. I am genuinely tired of this. Francesca's love story is not between her and John. It's between her and Michael. She loved John and he died. And do you know who famously struggles with fertility? Gay couples.

SAY IT LOUDER🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️as someone who struggled with infertility for YEARS this makes me so mad. Infertility is not spoken about enough in tv/movies and Francesca’s story was so relatable and honest. I also don’t understand push to make straight characters queer when adapting books to screen when there are so many queer authors whose books would already make great adaptations but will never get a chance.

My first daughter was still born at the end of 2020 I thought 2 1/2 years worth of infertility to have my daughter. Francesca‘s book was the first one that I read because of emotion and not for entertainment to rewrite her entire storyline is disappointing to so many people in my same situation.

Benedict would have been the perfect choice to gender swap the love interest. He was already confirmed to be bi in season 3 and his is already a love divided by the classes. It practically rewrote itself. ***Spoilers*** Eloise could have also been reworked if they wanted to eliminate the phillip/marina storyline all together.

the Bridgerton children all hold deep love and loyalty for their spouses, having Francesca enamored with anyone while married is a slap in the face for what all Bridgertons hold dear. honestly even Violet finding someone to have a fling with is too because she loved her husband so much, she couldn't conceive of sharing a romance with anyone else.
