@dawnstorms10: Another day at home when I was supposed to be at work. Another day that relying on the healthcare system has failed me. So many of us parents of disabled children have to say goodbye to years long careers, to all of the blood, sweat, tears, and work that went into them. But if we try and do it all then everyone suffers. We become spread so thin and our work quality suffers, our attendance suffers, our parenting suffers, our mental health suffers, and our home suffers. I’m at the point now where something has to give. I can’t keep up with the million doctors appointments and therapies while also working with clients and schedules while also raising a 3year old while also being a nurse to Josie at the drop of a hat when our nurses call in sick or leave us while also trying to keep our home livable. And at this point I’ve just stopped trying to have a social life or hobbies except for reading every now and then. Days like today are hard. Harder than usual I should say. When I have to face down something I’ve been clinging to and admit that it’s just not doable at this point in my life. To be a medical parent is to live in sacrifice. But it’s made up for in love. I may regret losing certain aspects of my life before becoming a medical mom but I could never regret my Josie girl and her gummy smile. #arthrogryposis #babygirl #medicalmom #disability #caregiver
