Yes, this actually technically works. They were all even from the start, the money they gave away to eachother, they borrowed from eachother. Each gave and took 20. So them passing it in a circle is silly but does work because they are even nontheless.

FOR ANYONE WONDERING. the reason this works is ONLY because they are all indebted to each other by $20. The $10 bill isn't even needed, it's just to complicate the gag. They all owe each other $20, therefore, they essentially agree to clear their debts. This would NOT work if these people had debts to separate people
