I've definitely used the "being realistic" line before and I have zero problem calling things overrated, but don't see them fitting the rationalization narrative ☠️I'm not saying I don't believe in the behaviour, but it touches upon one of my major issues with psychology. It tells you things about groups and probability, but very little about one specific person. Unless there's a clear way to differentiate between sound logic and masked insecurities, it's not much of a tool to judge other people's behaviour (of course, it's still a valid lens to question your own rationale). Its potential for abuse is something that makes me uncomfortable.
