Girl yes! I had the meanest nurse I followed in OB clinicals. She made me ugly cry and still to this day when I think about it my heart races!

I was finishing my second degree at 28 (nursing) and was put with a nurse that was so rude to me, literally looked at me and said “I never agreed to a student.” Said ok and went to my instructor. Was told there were no other experienced nurses. So I circulated with my Instructor instead. No ma’am I’m too old to be bullied by a 22 y/o 😂

I’ve had something very similar done to me. I still tell that story to this day. Some of the worst things nurses do to their young. I swore I would never be THAT angry nurse. I’m sorry that Happened to you 😢

The charting is the most annoying part. We should be teaching to chart in real time. I’ve been a nurse for almost 20 years. If I would’ve seen a colleague treating you like that, we would’ve had a discussion.

As a preceptor, I tell all my orientees and any new hires I see to always speak up for themselves and not to let anyone treat them any less than they are. I tell them to talk to me so I can address the matter. We were all new at one point and it’s important not to forget that and treat everyone that comes after us with respect

ugh. my radiology clinicals. one of the most ridiculously abusive experiences of my life. I only tookthe behavior because didn't have any power as a student. and they know that. honestly, shame on people who treat others like this. 😢

My preceptor for practicum would berate me in front of the patient if I would ask her questions on how to do something. After shift change she told me that I should reconsider nursing because teaching me was a waste of her time. cried on the way home. This was in 2020 and now I work with her 😭

this makes me so sad, i had such an amazing pair of preceptors. i know lots of my classmates who had preceptors who definitely did not want students and the difference in the way we were treated was like night and day. i’m so sorry you and so many other nurses have had this type of experience.
