I understand why experiences in church can hurt. People can disappoint us anywhere, and the church is not exempt from that reality. But I’ve come to see the church differently. It was never meant to be a place filled with perfect people. It’s a place where imperfect people come seeking a perfect God. Just like a hospital gathers the sick, the church gathers the broken, the learning, and the growing. So sometimes we will see flaws there, not because the church has failed, but because it is a place of transformation. For me, the real question became: Am I going to church because of people, or because of God? When the focus stays on Him, the imperfections around us no longer become a reason to walk away. Maybe the church is not a showroom of saints, but a workshop where grace is still working on all of us.
