@lizbettalksmoney: It’s never been about just “giving” my kids money. Although they do EARN their allowance (without paying chores). It’s *always* been about teaching them all the money habits that took me until adulthood to learn. Here she is learning delayed gratification, goal setting, and how little bits of money DO add up! That is the purpose of the saving category right now. When she gets older, she’ll learn about an emergency fund, sinking funds, and when to save vs invest for goals. There is no point in just giving your kids money, I agree.
