I stopped asking a long time ago 😂 I give them what I can depending on their body type. I stay at my 50% most of the time. 70% is the highest I'll ever go. the last 30% will consume 3 times more energy and 100 times risk of an injury. never go above and beyond when all you get is a "thank you, that was really great".

“Would you like more pressure, less pressure, or about the same?” Having “the same” pressure is a good option so they don’t feel they have to choose “more” or “less”. I also let them know their back and limbs tolerate different levels of pressure so let me know if we ever need adjustments.

I stopped coddling my clients and told them straight, "this is a partnership. Please communicate. If I'm doing something right, tell me. If I'm doing something you don't like, speak up, or I'll keep doing it." They appreciated the forthrightness.

you ask this question only if your client has booked a deep tissue massage. if it is a Swedish massage they are not supposed to expect any pressure..

I definitely noticed my people pleasing tendencies. Come up when the pressure is too much or too little. Take some getting used to to realize that it’s nothing personal.

I always let them know. I start out with light pressure and if they need more or less pressure just to let me know and that I can definitely readjust my pressure. I tell them that communication is key. This is their session. I want them as comfortable as possible.”
