I’m not even exaggerating, i saw them yesterday, and they simply walked by me and their energy was so strong, I’ve never felt a calm stillness come over me like that before. The whole crowd fell completely silent when they came into view. They’re amazing people.

You must understand the distinction between the rules for the monks and the rules of the lay people. For the lay people, we only need to follow the 5 precepts as the basic. On certain special days, we add 3 more precepts making it 8 precepts. For monk, they need to follow hundreds of the rules. Some were for practical purposes like shaving bald, using the alms bowl and the single piece of cloth is the basic protection of modesty and also from weather. Some of the rules are meant to discourage attachment to the world. A spouse or children is a strong attachment to the world. Your parents are too. That's why when one becomes a monk, one would have to renounce the parents and no longer address them as parents. This is very harsh for most of us that's why the road to actually being a monk is long. You can try living with the 8 precepts first to test yourself. 😊
