We have two different types of Jägerschnitzel in Germany. One is what you had, a normal schnitzel with mushroom sauce (which I also find boring), and the other is breaded Jagdwurst slices, usually served with noodles and tomato sauce. I like the second type of Jägerschnitzel much more.
