Ive always hated the placement of this piece at the Met, the painting feels like it needs more breathing room. You’re almost forced to stand eye to eye with the fabric which is a lesson itself in glazing and impasto highlights. A stunning painting but almost anti-climactic, you’re longing to feel emotion from her, and you’re left almost wistful and sad.
