You should look into working with educators in childcare as well your perspective on things and how you communicate have really changed and helped me when I deal with certain behaviours at the childcare I work at!

Hi I'm May :
I deliver the Solihull model of Understanding your child. There is a moment every single course when the penny drops for parents...I say ok ive listened to all the things that you find challenging about your children's behaviour. I open the door and pretend, as the children obviously aren't there, and ask the children to leave the room.
I then say the children have left the room for now, because they cant help us right now. The issue/challenge is you and how you respond to their behaviour and thats what we will be focusing on, you my dears.
it is a moment indeed...😳😁

@Kelly Medina Enos do you have any experience or advice with adhd? My son was very violent at a young age (it has improved with age and my best attempts at gentle parenting) however I didn’t know until he was older and awaiting adhd assessment that he quite literally cannot hear/process anything that was being said to him when he had really become upset/angry. I’ve tried to learn around this. But interested to know if you have advice 💖

Okay, here's one for you 😅 how about when you are just about to put them in bed (literally hovering over the cot), they don't want to go to bed, and they hit?
We've just spent our routine calming down, so how do I keep a level of peace and deal with the hitting, without just putting her in bed and leaving as normal? xx

My 4 year old is so angry when he can't complete a task (despite reassurance) or when he doesn't get his own way. He screams at the top of his lungs, throws things, kicks things. I have no idea how to handle it without myself getting so horrendously overwhelmed and overstimulating and as a result being a terrible role model. I'm at a complete loss😫

Anyone have tips with school refusal? My 7 year old is going through an assessment for autism and has a really difficult time separating from me to the point he's no longer going to school. Undressing himself, hurting himself, taking off his seat belt etc. There's so much pressure from families and friends to force him but he's struggling so much 🥺

My Wonderful World of Sunshine :
My preschooler recently hurt his friend at preschool and it was so out of character, it broke my heart when his key worker told me. I soon realised he was in need of some control in his little world, and that I was taking over on so many things because I just wanted to do it quickly as I was exhausted and in survival mode for a long time. As soon as I made time for us and let him help me more wherever we were, it made a heck of a difference ❤

I know its slightly different as their brains are formed/made/created slightly different and also every child is different no matter if SEN or no SEN but would this same approach to the hitting part work for SEN (Autistic) young children? ❤❤
