@gigglesapothecary: Jodie Foster and the French words she finds the most difficult to pronounce. Interview in French, with English captions. Jodie Foster, who is fluent in French and even had some success in French Chanson on the French pop charts as a teenager, reveals the French words she still found the most difficult to pronounce during the filming of the French language film, "Vie privée" or "A Private Life" in English. Jodie Foster has been speaking French since childhood, having attended the Lycée Français de Los Angeles from early childhood. She is completely fluent, having studied there for twelve years, and often dubs her own films into French, maintaining proficiency for over 50 years. While she has acted in French language films throughout her career, "Vie privée" is her first major starring role in a French film, with supporting roles in films such as "A Very Long Engagement"  (French: "Un long dimanche de fiançailles," lit. 'A Long Sunday of Engagement') in 2004. Though she had made her débuts au cinéma français in 1977 with "Moi, fleur bleue" (lit. "Me, Blue Flower" after her character, Isabelle Tristran's nickname of Fleur Bleue, but more known in English as "Stop Calling Me Baby!). It was directed by Éric Le Hung, and Jodie Foster was only 14 years old at the time. She contributed the song, "La Vie C'est Chouette" ("Life is Great") for the soundtrack of the Le Hung's film. She released 2 singles for this project, including "La Vie C'est Chouette" and "When I Looked at Your Face". These tracks, along with others, were released on vinyl/EPs, such as the 1977 EP Scherrie Payne & Jodie Foster - Bande Originale Du Film "Moi Fleur Bleue".  Also in 1977, at age 15, she had a hit single on the French pop charts with "Je t'attends depuis la nuit des temps" (I've Been Waiting for You Since the Dawn of Time), of which a rare performance clips still exists. A Private Life (French: Vie privée) is a 2025 French black comedy mystery thriller film directed and co-written by Rebecca Zlotowski, starring Jodie Foster, alongside Daniel Auteuil, Virginie Efira, Mathieu Amalric, Vincent Lacoste, and Luana Bajrami. #french #jodiefoster #movie #cannesfilmfestival #film The film had its world premiere at the out of competition section of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival on 20 May.
