I bought my first house in 2002 when I was 29. I put down $20,000 on a $239,000 house (but some of my friends put down $0). In 2010, I bought a bigger house for $375,000. Refinanced in about 2012. Fixed 3.25%. Now worth about $550,000. This fall will be 24 years of homeownership. I feel like I’m the last generation to have been able to do this without any complications or pain.
