I've found those who are truly faithful have compassion for all. I'm a pagan, and when I was in hospital (it was very doubtful I'd leave) the chaplain came to talk. I told him I wasn't Christian, and he said it didn't matter, and sat and kept me company for hours. Turns out I'm more stubborn than the doctors gave me credit for, and 18 years later I'm still here - but I'll never forget how he put his personal faith aside to comfort a stranger in a way that worked for them. Forever grateful.

I’m catholic and cover my hair during prayer. I was seriously ill (in the icu) last year and I asked a few times if someone could get my rosary off the table for me because I felt too weak to get it myself. After a shift change, one of the amazing nurses listened and passed it to me and asked if there was anything else she could do while I prayed and I asked her if she could put something over my hair while I prayed. I didn’t know at the time because of how unwell I was but she was Muslim and she stayed with me while I prayed. I only found that out a couple of months later when I took in a thank you present for them

This is so beautiful x When Rob was really poorly I'm intensive care, one of the nurses told me that she says a prayer for her patients every night and even though i am not religious at all, it bought me so much comfort.

We used to have a cupboard in a side room with various religious books in it, and prayer mats. I was caring for a teen who was sadly at the end of her journey. He mother was looking through her phone for Quran, so I went and got her one from the cupboard so she could pray for her. And I just sat and held the mother and the daughter’s hands. I tried to make her passing as dignified as possible xxx

Im atheist (raised muslim and went to catholic school), but i have prayed with christian and muslim patients. one patient was end of life and devout catholic. He asked if I knew any prayers, and I told him i did, and he asked if I would pray with him, and i did. If it brings them comfort, I will pray with them, it builds trust, provides comfort and is so rewarding.

I’m a Christian, and so was my mum. At her funeral, a Muslim relative said a private prayer over her coffin at the end of the ceremony. It was one of the most beautiful things anyone could have done and I’ll never forget it💕
