im pretty sure they take them off every once and while bc my bf and i put one on and went back this past summer to check and i couldn’t find it… ;(

They will actually go to the bridge and take locks off because of the weight it puts on the bridge. Not putting too many prevents it from collapsing. There are also scammers who will sell you locks and go and grab it and use rubbing alcohol and resell them. I saw a vid of a girl it happened to.
