Every stylist Ive seen says NEVER us oil before heat. Use a bonding serum (NOT oil) with a heat protectant. Oil should be after to help lay down the shaft or overnight as a mask. What temp do you blowdry with?

Yeah oil can actually cause worse heat damage. It heats up with the blow dryer /iron/curler, so It’s not a protectant, but conducts heat. As a sealant, it can be done at the END of a hair routine

No you're so right, the main ingredient in most oils is dimethicone/same as in heat protectants.
