I used to be so well spoken and now I lose words constantly and it's so frustrating. I am constantly apologizing for repeating myself because I can't remember if I just thought I said it or loud or I actually told someone something.

It's scary especially when it starts happening when your only 40 years.I feel like I'm going to end up with dementia or something else.

My brain fog gets so bad that I sound like I’m having a literal stroke trying to talk and have caused a lot of concern with my roommates to many times to count

I feel like this is not the best description. I feel lost inside my own mind. Like I know what I want to say amd expeess, but I am so incoherent even inside that I can’t track my thinking process all the way through. Like mid thinking I get lost and seem to lack resources to continue, and sometimes even will, despite wanting to think, I can’t seem to be able to. Or like I want to concentrate but I forget even the concept of concentrating. It feels like the content of knowledge is there, but I just can’t acces it. It almost like trying to scratch an itch on a phantom limb.

I notice extreme brain fog also can come with having to manually speak. Like you dont quite know how to speak anymore so you have to force the words out and move your mouth consciously rather than naturally. It's both irritating and terrifying.

I said ‘dishwasher’ five time in a row when I was trying to say ‘washing machine’ and eventually I said ‘the dishwasher for your clothing.’

The one time I was terrified,I forgot the names of my toddler daughters. I just couldn't remember no matter how much I tried. Started trying till my husband told me the names and I remembered.

I am often told I just "dont listen" or that I don't care about them enough to pay attention or remember something a loved one said. Being told these things is soul crushing because I am trying so hard but my mind is just not processing.

I hate that when I'm trying to concentrate on walking, and I see something, or say something, my brain forgets to keep telling my legs to move. The more I try to walk, the harder I have to concentrate. Then I'll forget where I was going, or why I was going. It's so hard. 😭😭

💡 Chronic pain makes you feel old enough... then you add brain fog. I felt such relief listening to your explanation! Thank you! 💜

I think " brain glitches " is a better term. I'm not foggy, my brain literally stops, glitches. My family and others around me say they can see it happen. I just stop functioning and then when the glitch lifts, I'm left looking around wondering how long the glitch lasted. Seeing the look on people's faces tells me I was "out". Like others said, this is the worst out of all the issues from Long COVID. I dont like meeting new people because they have no idea what I used to be capable of and people I know dont understand why I can no longer help them with complex issues. Maddening!
