Schmigadoon is bonkaz! For a book & music to cleverly and skillfully parody such classics as The Music Man, Sound of Music, and The King I along with show-stopping tap sequences, gorgeous eye-popping hand painted sets, and vibrant costumes is to me just b-o-n-k-a-z! If you’ve seen the TV show (1st season), it’s pretty much line for line, step for step a remake of show to stage, and that is a great thing. Why mess with perfection? So if you can’t get to Broadway, watch it on Apple TV with the one and only Aaron Tveit who just ended his wonderous Holy Trinity run with Chess. If you are looking to see a show, this should be on top of your list as the performances across the board are spectacular, from Sara Chase (Melissa) who is the emotional and vocal anchor of the show to SNL alumni Ana Gasteyer (Mildred) who is funny as fcuk stepping into the morality police role. The show is a hockadoo “love letter” to classic Broadway shows past and not everyone is an aficionado so some of the subtle jokes will be missed but this show should not be because it’s more then just that, it’s a jubilant time at the theater. This is my 4th time seeing it (twice on Apple), trust. Believe. “Tribulation” is another of many show-stoppahs in this beautifully crafted musical and is a smart, hilarious direct parody of “Ya Got Trouble” from The Music Man. In essence, the song serves as a rallying cry to launch her Mayoral campaign against Mayor MenLove by stoking fear about how these "outsiders" are going to corrupt the children and the town. Hmmm, where have I heard, nay, seen this playbook play out before? In the last vid I uploaded you got to see the ubah talented Kaleigh Cronin’s unbelievable version of Mildred’s “Tribulation” and now you get to see why the one and only Ana Gasteyer was Tony nominated for this role as she also is un-friggin believably talented as you can see and has the audience eating out the palm of her hands throughout the entirety of the show, she alone is the worth the price of admission! Enjoy. FDT HARD 💙 #broadway #schmigadoon #fyp #broadwaymusicals #slimetutorial
