It's the same in just about every industry. Retail is really bad about it. Certain positions are dissolved, and instead of getting rid of the functions that position did, they spread those functions among other departments. Do that enough times and suddenly everyone is burnt out from doing their best to accomplish their tasks within the timeframe they're given, generally don't, which spills over to the next shift that can't get their own tasks done, plus whatever's left over from the previous shift. It's a snowball effect. And in order to reset to some semblence of organization, sometimes someone will put in extra (unpaid) work. The practice is untenable. And it's showing no signs of slowing down.

Yes this happens in every industry but overloading nurses, can lead to not being able to rush to a patient that is crashing.
