Kuru ONLY happened in Papua New Guinea and there have been no recorded cases since 2009. And once symptoms begin, it’s 100% fatal within 11-14 months. And most of the symptoms are neurological in nature. Prion diseases can only be definitively diagnosed via autopsy as well.
