I feel like “shelfing” is a slick way to get creative people to become songwriters and/or producers without any autonomy in that industry. My only question is if they get PAID or if they’re broke.🙃

False. Usually „shelving” is when an artist can’t deliver a good song. It’s only to protect the artists since the label invested money in him/her and doesn’t want the artist to flop. And often the label looses money on signing an artist. It’s the risk they are taking. Sometimes it pays back and sometimes it takes ages/never

That’s why you read the contract and take it to a lawyer. Go over it 5 times and learn every detail. And you change the ones you don’t want and or come to an agreement where both parties are happy with. If someone just signs without reading the contract. Then that someone is an idiot.. 🤷🏻♂️
