My job told me that two months severance was “generous”. There is nothing generous about this. What would have been generous is giving my bonus due in 6 weeks and my 1 month rsu cliff in a couple months. Or also just being smarter about how they do business.

I really needed to hear this thank you! I was put on a 30 day PIP a few weeks ago. My options were to ride out the pip or take the severance and sever ties. I had the weekend to think about it. I’m betting on myself and took the severance because after reading the PIP I knew it was a lost cause. Appreciate you!

Yes, it was traumatizing what is problematic is when hiring managers don’t seem to understand what’s happening in job markets and people that are laid off are treated like we have done something to deserve it and it’s held against us and then we can’t get other jobs. That’s the problem.

My company just did this to me on Friday after I sat in a meeting the week before where my manager laid out our growth and hiring plan and said lay offs wouldn’t effect our team. They had me mentoring a new hire. Also bonuses for 2025 set to be paid out this Friday and only paid to active employees so the literally let me go the day before they’d legally have to pay it to me.

I had an employer who did layoffs with no warning - everyone got notified in a two hour cascade. BUT everyone got 1 month paid admin leave plus two weeks pay for every year with the org (so min 6 weeks pay, most got 12+ weeks) plus 3 months COBRA grossed up for taxes.

I was laid off last fall and am still job hunting. My (now former) company thought it was okay to lay off all of the females in leadership, including myself. I felt bad for about 30 seconds, but then I realized that the jokes on them because I’m going to move on to something way better…and they won’t be in business a year from now due to their lack of business expertise and their many, many lawsuits.

From May to June of last year, I was a corporate trainer that was asked for my the VP of Operations to train up a new location. In July (THE DAY BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY), they let me go with a 2 week severance, any unused PTO (about 2 weeks) and money owed for doing the special training project in another city. It was due to restructuring. Even the head of HR that did my exit "interview" told me straight up how she didn't understand how my name came up at all, but it was above her. What did they call it? Restructuring. Wtf does that even mean??????

This is exactly what happened to me. The office had only been open for a year and I was told they were “Restructuring” the offices. Instead of HR letting me go they had a nurse do it, no severance, and emailed me the non compete I signed. As a Medical Aesthetician with 11 years of experience, truly passionate about what I do and caring for my patients this broke me. I will never work for corporate again. Thank you for sharing, I really needed to hear this.❤️❤️❤️

I needed this. The company that just laid me off was run by a group of people who were mean and if you didn’t fit in you got kicked out. They didn’t even tell me why I got fired. They also waited for me to finish the tax season (working 60 hour weeks)
