I always set my reading goal low. 40 is my goal. I usually read more than that, but it doesn’t feel like a push to do so. I also count re-reads and fanfics towards my reading goal. It is all reading forms that make me happy.

I mainly use my goal as like a personal check, like I should relatively easily be able to meet my goal by the end of the year (50) if not 10+ over it some years, and so I can kinda use it to gauge how I spend my time overall, like if its like oh wow I haven’t finished a book yet this month, am I ACTUALLY using my time on things I want to? Was it actually just a busy time period? Or am I letting myself get absorbed in like scrolling on social media and other time suck activities?

Oh yeah! I liked them at first, but when my highest went over 200 I knew something was wrong. I brought it down to 70 this year and even that feels like a lot.

I think it’s very silly to set QUANTITATIVE reading goals. They should be qualitative.

My goal is to read every month. I got through ruts where the thought of reading stresses me more than the joy I get from reading. I’m also a very slow reader, last year I read 7 books. If I get there this year great but if not I want to know that I’m reading because I want to not to hit a made up number
