I worked at a shop where the new service advisor switched the system up to give people tickets that they were most likely suited for skill wise. I was given all the time consuming diag /electrical. No more gravy. I left a few weeks later.

yeah flat rate just doesnt work anymore. sure 60 hours weeks happen but then I have also had 12 hour weeks so they get negated. Last month I decided I would start my own thing and I have never looked back. I highly recommend making the jump

my dealer complains more when a master tech does oil changes because they go negative. they keep us where we are and somehow stay open, cars ain't moving or selling. I'm really curious how the lights stay on

I work at a shop where the master tech would get brake jobs and tire rotations and they gave the brand new lube, tech and oil pan replacement on a car they had to get the whole front end dropped just to get to the pen

Listen I don’t think a master tech should be fed gravy constantly shop should be spreading it as a far as possible to the guys who are trying to learn to help them make hours while they learn to make hours on the harder diag/heavy line work but if a master tech sells his gravy on top his dog work I don’t think it’s right to have his upsells from him
