At my job we start IVs but if it’s a hard stick I have to call CT or ER nurse to come start it. I know some places have a Nurse dedicated to mri to start IVs

I’ve been a MRI tech for 20 yrs. I’ve always started my own IVs. I started in radiology. We used to do IVPs. Who knows what that is?

These comments are not it. I’m an MR tech and I place IVs all the time, I work in outpatient imaging so I do not have a nurse to place them while I’m scanning. When I did work at the hospital I highly appreciated when patients would come down with an IV from the floor or ER. As we are extremely busy often seems dozens of patients every few hours at least. Working together is a beautiful thing. And side note to anyone out there getting medical attention. No healthcare professional I have ever worked with any nurse , technologist , er tech etc… have I witnessed purposefully place a bad IV , we make mistakes and I HATE it when I have to stick someone more than once. My goal is to make things as painless and easy for my patients . We’re all better as a team.
