got diagnosed with cancer and let my Boss know so they could cover me while I was off having treatment. end of year review said that i missed a lot of staff meetings and professional development and that in future I need to leave personal stuff at the door 😳

I told my manager that I was taking more frequent time off due to doctors appointments, she asked ME if I had cancer and I said yes. Then she prevented me from getting my merit raise saying I wasn’t ready. Don’t trust anyone!!

This is usually only true if youre in a toxic work environment. A supportive leadership team is not going to punish you for communicating personal challenges in a professional way. Esp if youre offering solutions. In fact, when concerns are brought with accountability and a plan, good managers see that as maturity/being pro-active… not “you cant handle conflict”

Yea I agree. My coworker told us during a conversation how he told our manager about his personal problems during his 1:1 and next day manager doesn’t give af and expects him to work like normal. The only people who gets to know my personal problems are my closest friends and family.
