ENGINE FAILURE ON A BOEING 777 #engineering #aviation #aerodynamics #aerospace The failure started when one of the fan blades cracked near its base. These blades spin very fast and carry a lot of energy, so when one breaks off, it can damage the whole engine. The outer shell that is supposed to hold the parts inside could not stop the impact, and the front section tore open. Later inspections found that the blade had tiny cracks caused by repeated stress over time. These cracks grow slowly and are not visible until they reach a critical size. After this event, all engines of the same type were checked again using ultrasonic tests to detect small cracks earlier. Despite the damage, the aircraft stayed under control. The fuel and hydraulic systems were isolated automatically to prevent fire spread, and the pilots followed the one-engine procedure and landed safely. This incident shows how a strong design and trained crew can prevent a disaster even when something goes seriously wrong. A passenger recorded this engine failure on a Boeing 777 in 2021. The outer parts of the engine broke apart, and flames were visible after takeoff. The flight crew returned safely to Denver using the other engine. Aircraft: Boeing 777-200 Engine: Pratt & Whitney PW4077 Flight: United Airlines 328 (Denver to Honolulu) #aviation #boeing777 #enginefailure #pilotlife #aircraftmaintenance #unitedairlines #aviationsafety #airplaneengine #flightcrew #aviationgeek
