This jingle is responsible for giving a generation false hope for the future. Don Draper would profit from false hope.

Don found nirvana and sold it. (I wish I could take credit for this comment but I saw it somewhere else)

I wish I could relive watching the finale for the first time. I remember how much speculation there was over what the final song on the show would be, and no one anticipated this!!

The fact that it ends with the “ding” meaning don got peace but what he actually got was an idea… and went on to create one of the most iconic commercials of all time… ART

People think Don didn't change for the better, but I think this song was him really trying. He didn't sell false meaning with this one, or try to distinguish the company from the competition with lies or misdirection. It probably started with just a thought of togetherness when he was at that hippie retreat, a genuine feeling of wanting to feel part of the world for once instead of hiding from it. It's such a simple, uncommercial, friendly sentiment, which was why it worked. "I'd like to buy you a Coke." Don, to the extent that he could, probably did find peace in middle age.

Literally nothing compares. The series has the best character development of any show I’ve watched. Rewatching again after like 2 years because I want to keep Mad Men as special as I watched it the first time! Also one of my favorite endings to a TV show
