@btp.plumbing: Brazing has to be one of my favourite parts of plumbing. It’s technical. It takes patience. You can’t rush it. And when that filler flows perfectly and caps the joint clean… there’s nothing better. I honestly reckon it’s becoming a bit of a lost art in our industry. Everything’s driven by speed and margins now — press this, crimp that, thread it and go. And don’t get me wrong, those systems have their place. But a properly brazed copper joint? In my opinion, it’s still the most superior way to join copper. No rubber. No olives. No mechanical threads. Just clean prep, heat control, and skill. Done right, it’ll outlast us. Yeah, I could’ve pressed this. It would’ve been quicker. But this job deserved time and care. I wanted to leave knowing that joint will be there for decades. What do you boys reckon? Are you getting many chances to braze on site?Does the boss let you take your time?Or are you mostly running press systems these days? Keen to hear how you’re tackling this sort of work out in the field. #construction #plumbing #repair #maintenance #howto

Brazing is unnecessary for potable water lines, just solder

Just quicker to solder, save the brazing for high pressure systems. Great video 👍

I did industrial pipefitting for a long time. I did a lot of soldering and brazing. I like soldering better a lost art that I’ll miss.

Little tip to any new Plumber or Fridgey, solder follows heat so point your oxy at the joint like Mr BTP did. But if it’s too hot than your torch is far too close so back it off a bit. Think about your distance as a valve or tap and your brazing will be exceed exponentially 👌.

Your flame is forked. There may be impurities in the nozzle. After cleaning, it may also improve the welding efficiency.

I learned how to do both during my couple years of being a plumbing apprentice and it is probably one of the few things I still use in my life today. super useful if u ever need to make home repairs or for most matinance jobs
