Mmm, I love alpha arbutin but would prefer it in a leave-on product like a serum so I'd get my money's worth. It is also sensitive to high pH and can break down in alkaline conditions like soap and be irritating but a serum like The Ordinary's or Revox works well without being scared that it would irritate me. Yes, bar soap typically has an alkaline pH level between 8 and 10 and alpha arbutin is most stable and effective within a pH range of 3.5 to 6.5.
