He’s right. Unless there is no attraction on either side, a friendship is impossible. I was friends with my ex-husband before we dated, and he actually told me the same thing that this man said. To me it was a real friendship, but to my ex-husband, it was a means to have an opportunity with me in the future. I was actually pretty hurt because I loved him very much as a friend and he admitted that it was false pretenses.
