bro i bought the kiwi ears belle, i wasn't blown away really but why? it feels like any other headphones or earbuds. Should it be like this especially when trying Iems for the first time? the sounds feel kinda flat.

hi was me 😂, I do my best lol. My main point was iems are more sensitive so it's super easy to go to high, same rules apply to headphones and speakers, we now have portable dacs with crazy power and some frequency can cover other frequencies. + I'll agree some people are silly and equate loud as better. My nephew tested my binary ep321 with R6S,0 100% in the pc is legit, I started the dac at 1/120,he upped it to 81, I use it at 12 to 18 max... The only fix I would want is dB gauge, as people are dumb 😂

DACs have nothing to do with power or volume, I get what you meant, but that's just a heads up. The volume is a result of power, more power is driven from the amplifier, not the DAC, all a DAC does is convert one signal to another. Just wanted to let you know.

What iem do you think will mute most of the sound outside the iem like how active noise cancelation works

This might be either because I bought it from a sketchy dude online but when I got my IEM’s after a while of using them, the right side stopped working, and it was the wire problem not the earbud itself

You’re bringing in such a sensible approach to all things fandom. Without the gatekeeping and fetishism. Much appreciated.

It is closer to your ear so it will need to be at a lower volume for compensation

In general you can remember this: For shorter periods its okay to reach over 80 dB of loudness. If you plan to listen to music for longer periods like 5 to 7 hours a day you should aim to stay at or below 80 dB average since constant exposure above 80 dB over many hours can exceed the WHOs safe weekly limit of 40 hours at 80 dB and risk permanent hearing damage. Brief spikes to 80 or even 85 dB are usually low risk if your total weekly exposure stays within limits. I know its complicated to find out when you reach 80 dB and such but overall can you say music only has to be so loud that you get all the details you want to hear. For all the iPhone users there is actually a feature to see what dB output you have via Control Center Feature Hearing you can track what your current loudness is and based on that you can find a good sweet spot to listening for longer periods. Also remember that when you listen to loud music your ears and brain adapt so when you reduce the volume you often think its too quiet but normally it just takes a minute for your perception to readjust to the new lower level as loud enough. Thats a typical auditory adaptation phenomenon and it can mask accumulating risk to your hearing.
