@sacramentourbanmedia916: Halle Berry is again criticizing California Gov. Gavin Newsom, saying he never followed up with her after she publicly challenged him over his veto of menopause-related legislation — outreach she says she reasonably expected given their shared interest in improving women’s health care. At The New York Times DealBook Summit on Dec. 3, Berry spoke candidly about women’s health and singled out Newsom for rejecting the Menopause Care Equity Act (AB 432) for the second year in a row. The bill, which Berry strongly supported, was designed to expand access to medical treatment for menopause symptoms, according to Politico Pro. Referring to Newsom during her remarks, the Oscar-winning actress said, “My own governor has vetoed our menopause bill not once, but twice.” She then added pointedly, “That’s fine — he won’t be governor forever. But when you ignore women, who make up half the population, and dismiss us during midlife, maybe you shouldn’t be thinking about running for president either.” The comment drew an audible reaction from the audience. The following day, Newsom responded to questions from reporters, saying he had spoken with Berry’s manager and suggested the actress may not have known his administration was already planning to address menopause care in the upcoming 2026–27 state budget. “We’re in the process of reconciling that,” Newsom said on Dec. 4. “I’ve already included it in next year’s budget. This was already being worked on.” However, in a February cover interview with The Cut, Berry said she interpreted Newsom’s comments as an indication that he would personally reach out to continue the conversation — something she says never occurred. “It’s unsettling when people say they’re going to do something and then don’t,” Berry said. “He heard me. And if he wants to be president someday, he can’t afford to ignore women. Wake up, Gavin.” A spokesperson for Berry was contacted to clarify whether Newsom followed up with her manager in December, as he previously claimed.#fyp #viral
