that's not my understanding of ss-31. measurements of atp only show increase when ss-31 is present inside mitochondria. when ss31 is present it increases the cardiolipin, oh I can't remember exactly, but something like the electrical potential of the membrane. allowing the transfer of atp more efficiently. when it is not present, after a period of a 1 to 3 weeks for most research papers it gets naturally cleared, there is no more measurable increase in atp. you might still have some benefits of having increased atp and lower Ros for that duration though. but it does no actual repair, it is just the presence of the compound that increases efficiency
