Most dogs have pituitary-dependent Cushing’s, where a pituitary tumor overstimulates both adrenal glands. A smaller percentage have adrenal-dependent disease, caused by a cortisol-secreting adrenal tumor acting independently. In this video, I walk through how we tell the difference using hormone testing patterns, endogenous ACTH, and imaging, and why that distinction matters for treatment and prognosis.
