Do people not understand that if restaurants “just paid everyone more” they would have to raise costs 40-50% to cover those costs?

As a sever, I understand some customers don’t tip but I would love to see someone actually have the same energy they have in these comments and apply it to real life. I WANT people to tell me FROM THE BEGINNING that they DONT tip!!! Please make it easier for me 😌

I don’t understand why people keep saying the restaurant should pay more when we all know that isn’t going to change, whether we like it or not.

Ya know what… this could be good & fix A LOT of problems. In addition, sometimes I do want to dine in somewhere & be served without the extra bothering throughout the meal. And I’d tip accordingly to make sure that happens. I like it! 👍🏼

As someone living in England this is fucking insane to me. Why are y'all arguing over how much is an acceptable tip instead or arguing to earn a livable wage? It is not the public's job to pay you, it's the establishment you work at

“What if you’re broke and can barely afford to go out”? Then don’t go out it’s pretty simple. Get takeout and just pay for the food. If you think restaurants should pay their employees a living wage then stop contributing to the restaurant industry until they do so. The solution isn’t to go out to eat and just not tip, that only negatively impacts the server making $2.15 an hour but you’re still funding the corporation by buying their food. The point of dining out is to have good food without having to prep, cook, or clean up after yourself. The server is providing you a SERVICE, an EXPERIENCE. If you can’t afford it or don’t want to pay for that service. Then only pay for the food and take it home to go.

If you can’t afford to tip your server then why do you need to go out to eat? Eating out is not a necessity, go to McDonald’s for a 10 dollar meal idc ALWAYS TIP YOUR SERVERS.

My bare minimum tip is 20%, even if the service was not that great. If they were really good I’ll tip 30%. I’m from the old school and I live in tip city. Las Vegas.
