didn't Judah speak up to save Joseph by not killing him - leaving him to stay in the pit and starve - and instead suggest selling him?? if I'm not mistaken, he was the only one who spoke up for a less harsh action - saving Joseph's life!!!

The messiah come through juda simply because his mother did something never did when he was born . She praise the lord . The word praise was mentioned in the bible the 1st time when juda was born. God acknowledged that sacrifice and as the bible say she enter the court of God in thanksgiving

Judah did not become what he became becoz of the mistakes of his 2 brothers rather he was prophesied on birth Gen 2:35. The Lord shall be praised in Judah! God don't change His plan.

I would say that Scripture is actually very clear on this. The Lion of Judah comes directly from Genesis 49 where Jacob blesses his sons, and Judah is explicitly called a lion. Reuben was the firstborn, but he lost that status because of his actions, so the kingship and messianic line passed to Judah. That is why Jesus is called the Lion of Judah, not Reuben. That idea is not a later Christian invention, it is rooted in the Hebrew Bible itself
