Aerys also not really mad. Paranoid? Its hard to say youre paranoid when everyone IS plotting against you. His son tries to dethrone him the defiance at duskendale confirmed his worst fears. The burning of the starks was very much him collapsing into his own vices. He was mad by the end but genetically? Not really. Aerys was mad by circumstance.

How the prince that has been threatening his little brother, is even part of this list when there are Targaryens like Daemon and Aemond? Daemon killed 1/3 of the population in KL at the first ep of HoTD, while Aemond killed Luke and fried his own brother. I don't get all this agenda 🤷🏻

while daemon was just a loose cannon im pretty sure aemond has sociopathic tendencies. aegon IV was also a weird dude although its perfectly possible that he was just a very bad person. viserys III (dany's brother) had regular emotional outbursts and he was also exceptionally cruel and focused on violence. so I would say that while its probably not the targaryen genetics itself, the inbreeding and the constant pressure of being a royal family member does overall make them unpredictable mentally

prince rhaegal the last dragon , jon snow & prince baelor son of Dareon the Good , these were the 3 Best and Most Sane Targaryen’s. Notice how none of them ever sat on the iron throne . They all have the best and truest claims to the throne , and they all would’ve been the peoples king , but they never sat the throne . The problem with the non - psychologically mad Targaryen’s was the power , entitlement & obsessions that came with being a Targaryen King .
