there's a theory that because Gen z wasn't raised on cable TV that showed old movies and media, they have zero sense of seeing old media and wanting to learn more about it the older actors. so media doesn't exist from before they were born

the lack of historical cultural knowledge is absolutely limiting their creativity as well. they have such a limited pool of inspiration that the collective creative work tends towards repetition rather than reinvention

i wonder if this has an additional cultural layer as well. bcz as a black millennial living in atlanta I find that alot of black gen z are aware of who our black A listers are and their movies/shows from the 80s to now. also they are very aware of our culturally significant movies, especially the coming of age ones (i.e. friday, love & basketball, belly, the wood etc.)

It always pisses me off how people don’t know any musical artists and use the excuse that they hadn’t been born during that time. Like I was born in 1992 but I still know who The Rolling Stones, The Beatles,Tina Turner, Diana Ross (etc) are!
