Patrolman David Marchetti got there first. He spotted a gray 2019 Volkswagen Jetta with light rear bumper damage. It had bumped a parked 2023 Kia Sportage. Driver Anngie Arriola chatted with SLEO Daniela Maradiegue. She handed over her details. But her boyfriend, Miguel Zevallos, turned aggressive. Warnings didn't stop him. He kept causing trouble. Officers arrested him. While cuffing Miguel, Marchetti smelled booze on Anngie. He saw clues she was drunk. She owned up to drinks that day. Said she meant to drive home. He grew sure she was impaired. Asked her for sobriety tests. First came the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus check. Marchetti saw jerky eyes, shakes at full turn, and wobbles before 45 degrees. Next, One Leg Stand. Anngie botched the foot lift. She dropped it too soon. Then Walk and Turn. She missed directions at first. On the try, steps missed heel-to-toe. Turn went wrong. Crash clues, alcohol scent, bad tests—all added up. Marchetti arrested Anngie for drunk driving. Vehicle search found open booze cans. They towed her car for 12 hours under John's Law. He drove her to headquarters. There, they read the breath test rights. She said yes. Alcotest showed 0.17% BAC—twice the 0.08% limit. After paperwork, her mom took her home. Mom signed the liability notice. Marchetti gave Anngie tickets for: drunk operation, reckless driving, open container. Miguel got hit with Misbehaving (Ordinance 3-29) and Disorderly Conduct (2C:33-2A(2)). He left with a court summons. Court files show Anngie pled guilty to drunk driving on February 27, 2024. Judge hit her with 4 months no license, 9 months ignition lock, 12 hours drunk driver class, 2 days jail. Plus $690 fines.
