At Tenerife North Airport, the architecture does some quiet heavy lifting before you've even boarded your flight: natural light, softer materials like birched wood, clear sightlines, and simple circulation all help your nervous system feel safer. And that's not accidental. Good airport design isn't just about moving people efficiently from A to B. It's about reducing cognitive overload, lowering cortisol, and creating moments of calm in what's usually a high-stress environment. Think daylight instead of harsh artificial lighting. Open spaces instead of bottlenecks. Views out to the landscape instead of endless corridors. Because when you're already navigating queues, security, delays, and time pressure... the building should support you, not fight you.
