I had no idea it was the year of the female farmer! I’m also central Alabama. I have horses, chickens, guinea fowl, occasional cows and pigs, trying to establish forest garden. I want to do content but never do. Maybe this year.

Nice to meet you! I’m in Ohatchee, Al. My husband and I raise beef cattle. We have around 100 head of Angus/Hereford/Brangus/SemAngus/Mixed cattle. My husband is a retired veterinarian, I’m a retired federal government worker. We bought cattle back in 2019 and in 2021 bought our farm(it was a former hog operation on the land, we are continuing to develop the property for more pastureland. This is my first time raising cattle, my husband has been around cattle all of his life. Always learning something new every day!

I was raised in big cities from Michigan to Minnesota. I never even touched a farm animal until we got our own land and started our hobby farm. I retired from nursing in 2020 and now raise cows, chickens, pigs, and as many foods as I can grow. It’s so rewarding- cheers to the year of the female farmer!
