I was a birth doula for many years before going to medical school. I volunteered through a community hospital program that offered volunteer doula support for all laboring patients. I feel so strongly that doulas made such a great part of the team. It was such a good patient care experience as a pre-med. And now I’ll be applying into ObGyn next year!!

better to describe Certified Nurse Midwives as Advanced Practice Nurses which are governed by a state board and have a distinct licensure from RN or LPN

There are also birth doulas and postpartum doulas. The postpartum doulas need far less training and literally next to ZERO medical training and licensing although many states have registration requirements but this varies widely.

would you be willing to talk about what the reaserch suggests regarding ttc following a first trimester miscarriage? im seeing conflicting recommendations. some say you dont have to wait, some say you should wait one regular cycle, some say you should wait longer. are any of these backed by evidence?

I used to think people getting doulas was so weird but now I kinda get it, I would want that emotional support to if I was giving birth
