I really hate the evil parents thing for Superman, but I also hate the, "We sent you here to save humanity" thing too, they sent him there to live and survive, not for some great or higher purpose, but because their people wouldn't listen to them, they sent him somewhere he would be safe, unaware of the incredible power he'd get, he just happened to land at the Kent's farm and they raised him as Clark, Superman is what he CHOOSES to become, because he genuinely wanted to help people because of the way the Kents raised him, Clark Kent is who he is and was raised as, Superman is what he chooses to do with the powers he has and how he was raised
