Did you check if the timing was off? A timing belt thats is off by one or two sprockets can create a misfire but still run on some cars. Especially if its a variable valve engine with turbo.

leak down tester would have told you what you needed to know. pull head send out for valve job.

Do that air leak with a new head or recently rebuild head and you will see air bubbles too.. the air will slightly push the valve open and cause bubbles

That’s crazy ,bad valves I probably would’ve been spinning my wheels on this one. Doing the basic diagnosis maybe thinking it was bad injectors. Great job finding the problem bro stay blessed.

Could’ve found this with a leak down test. Then give the customer the option of pulling the engine apart.

The customer decided not to buy it after all he found somebody cheaper he said. If you could put it back together that would be great. Also he said he needs it by lunch time because his kid has soccer practice at 1
