Could you make a general vid on what you think of retail trading? Comes up on X every now and then but curious what you think, whether retail can find edge in the space

I am currently doing a project on how the recently passed bill HB 672 from New Hampshire which would allow for individuals to generate their own power if it is not connected to the public grid. I do not have the best understanding of these markets and I was wondering if you could explain how if many larger companies were to leave the grid to produce their own energy utility cost for regular consumers would go up?

Does the buyer pay for the actual transmission to their destination? Is this valid. A new Walmart is opening i goto them and tell them I can get them cheaper power then the local supplier. I find cheaper energy in another state and route it to the day Walmart. Is that trading energy. This is so fascinating

i still don't understand how you make money basis trading when a line is at capacity, how does that impact price? what id imagine is that when an area is congested there is extra supply? hence energy is cheaper and you basically arb this buy buying this and selling it at a location where the transmission line is under capacity? even then, i wonder what cause said congestion in the first place: is it demand driven? if so what happened to that unmet demand?

So would being able to read power usage patterns by people based on current events, weather, even entertainment events & social media be a valuable skill to somehow apply to this sort of trading? This is my first time seeing you and hearing of this btw.

Great explanation, it’s always good to read the ISO RTOs manuals on transmission and market practices for each market!
